We are one step closer to Sophie. Today we flew to Guangzhou, this is where Sophie is from.
But first.....We woke up and ate breakfast, which is awesome. Then, we went back to our hotel room to skype with our family. David Ryan was happy to see and hear from us. My sister went out of town and left her six week old puppy at my mom's to puppy sit. And the first thing David Ryan said to us was " I got me a dog." He thought my sister dropped off the puppy for him. We will let my sister explain that one to him when she comes to pick the puppy back up. He did ask us to come get him again. That is the hardest part of all of this. I do miss him so much.
We met our guide Nancy in the hotel lobby at 8:30 am for she could take us to the airport. There is one other family that is going to the same province as us. The other families are either going to different provinces or have already flown directly to Guangzhou. We got to the airport and checked in. We did the security check. Our flight was at 11:30 am, we started boarding at 11. We had to actually take a bus shuttle to our plane. The flight was only 3 hours but they fed us. I guess that is what is different from Chinese airlines and US airlines. The flight had a little more turbulence, but it went fast. I read half my book on this flight. Our flight landed at 2:40 pm. Gettting our luggage was check. This airport was not nearly as crowded as Beijing's airport, so we easily found our guide, William.
We are staying at the China Hotel/Marriott and it is so beautiful. This is probably the only time we will get to stay at a 5 Star Hotel. The whole first floor is like a mall with stores like Gucci. We got settled in our hotel since we will be here for two weeks, our temporary home. Then, we walked around and in the hotel. We had supper at a McDonalds that is conveniently next door, we had to take a break from noodles and rice. After that, we went to a 7eleven for some bottled water. Then, back to the hotel. Dustin took a bath. Let me tell you about the bathtub, the bathroom has speakers for you can listen to the tv (which is in English) and has a window with closing/opening blinds so you can watch tv from the bathtub. Our view from the window is awesome. Dustin fell asleep while I ended the night blogging and facebooking.
Tomorrow is the day we get Sophie. I wonder how she is going to respond. I wonder what my emotions will be like. Pray for a nice smooth transition. We will be getting at 2pm our time and 1 am our time.
